Painted Frameworks | Paper Cloaks | Sculpture & Marquettes

The painted frameworks.
Frameworks as subject matter for painting and contextual frameworks.
I am used to painting from life, a form of documentary painting that often allowed easier access to viewers. I still like working with recognisable subject matter, but I needed to create new settings that suited the themes I wanted to explore in my work.
I created small timber and paper wrapped models that became symbolic. In the subsequent paintings, I use these constructions to create a visual situation that
attempt to force the viewer to interpret the work in a less “straight forward” way. For some of these paintings, I surrounded them a contextual wooden framework, wrapped in handmade tissue paper.
